Hobbies

So...time is flying, stress is mounting and there are so many things you should be doing that you can't figure what to do first.  Well let me tell you, this sounds like my purpose in living. But ya know, this is when you slow the pace and decide to do something you DON"T need to do emergently, but would rather do if you were playing the "selfish" card. It is "me time", Hobbies are what you need and probably deserve.. If you are like me, you are always putting yourself last on the totem pole of life and never have a moment to do what you sometimes would like to do. There are pros and cons in doing this just like there are to every thing. You can't hope to do ALL that you need all the time - it is ok to occasionally take a breather and entertain yourself. It could be a number of things; read your Bible or a good book you have been wanting to read (make it even some silly fiction so you can relax rather than try to adapt that new self-help book you've been reading....). You could garden, play with plants in some nature, take a leisurely walk, make something crafty (that which you really have no use for),  call a friend,  go to the park (by yourself) for a nature walk, etc, etc. The sky is limited only by your ingenuity/interests. The importance behind this is -  things you have to do will always be there. They won't magically disappear. A neighborhood fairy won't stop by and do them for you either. HOWEVER -  if you burn out from overdoing it and never slow down long enough to catch up to your own needs, you won't be doing ANYBODY any favors and you won't be any good mentally as well as physically.  "Me time" -  everyone needs it and everyone deserves it! One of mine is soapmaking. Pick some small hobbies - indulge in that "me time" frequently enough to make a difference in your life's outlook. Believe me, your family will benefit from it and it can possibly be a tiny pick-me-up for yourself....indulge!
